50 km to the north from Kajaani, 13 km to the west from Paltamo municipality center, lake Oulujärvi (Paltaselkä) 15 m, shallow beach, small rocks on bottom, pier, own rowing boat. Boat and pier can be used till end of September. Small wilderness log cabin, built in 1995. Living room with sofa bed, kitchen (no door), alcove with built-in bed (width 120 cm) and covered porch. Separate sauna with steam room, dressing area and porch. Water to the sauna can be pumped by pump located on the porch. Water can be heated in tank connected to wood-burning sauna stove. Composting toilet. Lean-to shelter and campfire site, also a griddle pan available. Points to note for winter time (October-May) bookings: - During the winter season (around 1.10. - 30.5.) the pier and the boat are in use whenever the weather permits. It is good to be prepared for the fact that after September until the beginning of May the pier and the boat will not be available. During this time, the pier is on the beach and can be an aesthetic nuisance, however, it does not prevent being at the cottage. - The water pump is closed at the pier, so during the time mentioned above you have to make a whole to the ice and carry the water yourself from the lake to the sauna. - If it is more than -10 degrees below zero, the cabin must be heated quite a lot. In this case, booking is only recommended for experienced winter wilderness campers. - In winter, the cottage road is plowed, but the cottage otherwise does not have regular winter maintenance. There can be a lot of snow on the paths at the cabin, so the customer has to do snow work to make it easier to move around.

The cabin is not preheated before the reservation begins. Cabin should be cleaned by the customer during the holiday and after that. Maintenance does not inspect the cabin after every guest. If the cabin is not clean on arrival or there are deficiencies, please contact the owner immediately by calling. The guest must bring their own bed linen and towels (not available for rent). There is a sink located in the cabin’s kitchen. Two stoves, one in the living room and one in the kitchen. Solar panels provide electricity for lighting, TV and wall outlet. Kuusiranta is located in a sunny location by the wide lake Oulujärvi (Paltaselkä). Beautiful lake view. Quiet location, no visual contact to the neighbors. Fishing: Fishing in lake Oulujärvi is permitted with fisheries management fee. One fishing rod can be used. More information see www.eraluvat.fi. Fish species in the lake: pike, perch, pike perch and whitefish. With Finnish Forest Administration’s (Metsähallitus) angling permit for Northern Ostrobothnia and Kainuu you can fish using fly or lure in the state owned water areas in Northern Ostrobothnia and Kainuu. The permit area contains approximately 80 000 hectares of lake and pond waters and over 600 kilometers of river and stream waters (destination id 5411 www.eraluvat.fi). Hunting: small game hunting area on state owned lands, Paltamo 5601 (www.eraluvat.fi).
