Laajavuori - Ski Resort
Laajavuori Ski Resort is located in Jyväskylä, in only 4 km from the city center. Laajavuori has been a recreational area of the city for a long time, from 1940's, when the first ski club was established. Stunning views of the Central Finland open from the top of the slopes, with the rivers, forests, as well as the shapes of the Mäkinen landscape.
Today Laajavuori offers an excellent setting for hiking, snowboarding, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. There are 12 slopes, 6 lifts with a 105 m altitude difference. Here you can find a Ski Cross, the Children's area and over 60 km of track-side trails. In recent years Laajavuori has invested in children's facilities: two slopes, a car lift, a racket and are avaliable. In addition, children have their own traineeships for jumps and rails, with the needs of safety of small riders taken into account; the resort emphasizes that children has to wear a helmet while sledding as well.
There is a cafe-restaurant Gasthaus Laajis at the heart of the area. Here you can enjoy hot beverages and cold drinks, tasty home-cooked meals. Gasthaus Laajis has 100 seats and is decorated in a cozy and modern way. The leather sofas have a direct overview of the slopes of the Children's area and the front of the park.
